for parents
You know something isn’t quite adding up.
Perhaps your child is struggling to concentrate, forgetting instructions, falling behind, taking far longer than expected to complete schoolwork, or simply not achieving what you know they are capable of. You may be wondering about ADHD — but you’re not sure.
You don’t need to know what assessment to ask for. Tell us what you’re seeing, and we’ll help work out what needs to be explored and the most appropriate way to assess it.
What happens next.
We aim to make the assessment process straightforward from the beginning. Here’s what happens when you contact MindMeasure.
Step 1
Tell us what you’d like to understand..
Get in touch and briefly describe what has prompted you to seek an assessment. You may be enquiring for yourself, your child, or someone you support.
Step 2
We determine the right assessment.
We will consider your concerns and the questions you would like answered. Where appropriate, an initial consultation will help determine which assessment — or combination of assessments — is most suitable.
Step 3
Your assessment begins.
We’ll arrange the necessary appointments and provide information about what to bring, any questionnaires or background information required, the assessment process and the fees involved.
fees
Clear about costs.
Assessment fees vary depending on the referral question and the testing required. We’ll explain the proposed assessment, what is included and the total expected cost before you decide to proceed.
Assessment Fees
Fees are confirmed before assessment begins
Your assessment fee may include clinical interview, testing, scoring and interpretation, preparation of a written report, and a feedback consultation, depending on the assessment required.
Private Health Insurance
Some private health insurers provide benefits for psychology services, depending on your policy and level of cover. We recommend checking directly with your insurer before commencing an assessment.
Medicare
Medicare rebates may be available for some psychological services when you have an appropriate referral from a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. However, rebates do not normally apply to psychological assessments.
FAQs
Good questions.
It’s common to have questions before arranging an assessment. Here are some of the things people most often want to know.
-
No. You can contact MindMeasure directly to arrange an assessment. A referral may be relevant if you are seeking a Medicare rebate or if another professional has requested the assessment.
-
You don’t need to work this out yourself. Tell us what you are concerned about or what you would like the assessment to clarify, and Andrew can recommend the most appropriate approach.
-
This depends on the type of assessment and the questions being investigated. Some assessments can be completed in a single testing session, while others involve several appointments, questionnaires or information from other people. We’ll explain the likely process before you begin.
-
Where a formal report forms part of the assessment, it will bring together the assessment findings, explain their significance and provide recommendations relevant to the reason for referral. What is included will be explained before the assessment begins.
-
Some interviews, questionnaires and feedback appointments can be completed by telehealth. Standardised testing may need to be conducted face-to-face, depending on the assessment and the individual circumstances.
