FIND YOUR MIDDLE GROUND

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

A compassionate, skills-based approach designed to help you manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and build a life worth living.

THE Essence

Balancing acceptance and change.

DBT is a specialized form of cognitive therapy developed to help people who experience emotions very intensely. The "dialectical" part means we work on two seemingly opposite things at once: accepting yourself exactly as you are, while simultaneously acknowledging the need for change to reach your goals.

01.

Mindfulness

We teach you how to remain present in the current moment, allowing you to experience your senses and feelings without judgment or impulsive reaction.

02.

Distress Tolerance

We provide a "crisis toolkit" to help you get through painful situations without making them worse through self-destructive behaviors.

03.

Interpersonal Effectiveness

We focus on tools to help you communicate your needs, set firm boundaries, and navigate conflict while maintaining your self-respect.

IN SESSION

What DBT sessions are like

/ SKILL-FOCUSED & PRACTICAL

While traditional therapy can be open-ended, DBT sessions are structured. We often use diary cards to track your emotions and the specific skills you used to manage them throughout the week.

  • / EMOTION REGULATION

  • We work together to identify the function of your emotions. You’ll learn how to "ride the wave" of intense feelings rather than being overwhelmed or swept away by them.

  • / VALIDATION-FIRST

  • A core part of our work is validation. We recognize that your reactions make sense given your history, providing a safe foundation from which you can begin to make different choices.

WHO DBT HELPS

Support for trauma, anxiety, and more.

  • Individuals struggling with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

  • People experiencing chronic Suicidal Ideation or Self-Harm

  • Those with extreme "mood swings" or emotional sensitivity

  • Individuals in high-conflict relationships

  • People struggling with Impulsivity or Substance Use

  • Anyone who feels "too much" and wants to find emotional stability

“I used to feel like my emotions were a physical tidal wave that I couldn't escape. DBT didn't make the waves go away, but it finally gave me the surfboard and the strength to stay upright.”
